UTMB 2024: Athletes to Follow on Strava

The 2022 UTMB champion goes into the 2024 race in a stellar vein of form, having won Western States and The Canyons earlier in the year.

China's Fuzhao Xiang has been crushing it at some of the world's biggest trail races for years now. She will be looking to better her fourth placed finish in the 2023 women's race.

Hungary's Eszter Csillag will be looking to build on a stellar end to 2023, which saw her win Translantau and IZU Trail Journey. The HOKA athlete has previously finished fifth at UTMB (2022).

AKA ‘Hillygoat,’ Hillary is widely recognized as the trail queen of vertical terrain. To name just one of her accolades, last year, she set a course record at the Ultra Trail Cape Town 100M.

Ireland’s Emma Stuart - a.k.a The Running Vet - has an impressive trail CV, with wins at the grueling 205-mile Tor des Géants, Arc of Attrition, and Ultra-Trail Snowdonia.

Abby Hall is looking to bounce back with a bang after an injury-ravaged 2023. A podium finisher in the CCC and winner of Transvulcania, she will be looking for a statement performance at 2024 UTMB.

The first American male winner of UTMB (2023), Jim Walmsley is the man to beat at this year's race, having already won Western States in 2024.

Author, athlete and adventurer, France's Mathieu Blanchard will look to go one better than his second place finish in the 2022 edition of the race.

A three-time winner of the Lavaredo Ultra Trail, Germany's Hannes Namberger has amassed first place and course record finishes at some of the world's biggest trail races.

Tom Evans has pedigree in big races. The Brit has not only won Western States and Ultra-Trail Snowdonia, but he's already taken a podium at UTMB (third - 2022).

France's Germain Grangier has already tasted success on this course, winning the 90km du Mont Blanc in 2023. He'll be looking to improve on his third place finish in UTMB (2023).

A former UTMB champion (2016), Ludovic Pommeret has enjoyed a strong start to 2024, including a win at Hardrock 100. He also won the 2021 edition of the Grand Raid.
