Spotted on Strava: Leadville, Tour de France Femmes & a Proposal

From a big race weekend in Leadville to the start of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in Rotterdam, and a post-marathon proposal, there was plenty to keep up with on Strava this past week.

The iconic Leadville 100 MTB race took place last weekend in Leadville, Colorado. In her seventh showing at the race, Melisa Rollins took home first place in the elite women's division, improving on her previous best time by 43 minutes. Second place went to last year's champion, Sofia Gomez Villafañe, with Michaela Thompson coming in third.

The elite men's division saw Keegan Swenson win the race for the fourth year in a row, with a blistering time of 5:49:08 (despite a puncture!). John Gaston finished second (6:04:50), with Cole Paton a close third (6:06:40).

Meanwhile, an epic summer of sport continued in Europe, with the Grand Depart of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The race kicked off in Rotterdam (if you're not following Strava on Instagram you're missing out on some amazing behind the scenes coverage), with Dutch cyclist Charlotte Kool taking yellow on Stage One. There was a host of big name riders in the pack behind Kool, including Demi Vollering, Elisa Longo Borghini, and Marianne Vos, setting the stage for an epic week of racing.

From two wheels to two feet, it's been a busy time for FKTs (Fastest Known Times) around the world. Renee Miller set a new women's unsupported FKT for the Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail. The 457-mile trail took her 14 days, 14 hours, and 26 minutes to complete, besting the previous record by about a day and a half. Meanwhile, over in Europe, Elena Lopez set the record for running from the lowest to the highest point in Switzerland, and John Isaksson ran Sweden's Sörmlandsleden (Stages 1-62), completing the 376 mile / 605.51 km route in 8 days and 8 hours.

Back in Paris, an incredible 260,000+ people participated in "the greatest connected race of all time" - the Connected Marathon Pour Tous. Meanwhile, Olympic marathoner Dakotah Lindwurm came away from last weekend's race as "12th overall, 1st American, and a fiancée." Congrats, Dakotah!

And, finally, it was the iconic image of the last couple of weeks, and fitting that it has been immortalized as Strava Art. From the shores of Tahiti to a park in Melbourne, Big Bird GPS Art recreated the incredible image captured during the surfing event.
